Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a critical illness characterized by severe hypoxemic failure, caused an inflammatory response which results in diffuse lung damage. Despite decades of research, the treatment ARDS remains supportive. However, recent years, cell-based therapies have been subject intensive ongoing research efforts, showing relevant therapeutic potential preclinical models. Among all different cells that identified as suitable candidates for use, mesenchymal stromal (MSCs) most attractive and generated significant interest. MSCs are multipotent adult stem/stromal can modulate immune enhance repair damaged tissue multiple vivo Their promising effect seems to be not primarily mediated differentiation engraftment but more paracrine release soluble mediators cellular components such extracellular vesicles (EVs).
